C-Jade Express @ MV

DSC02418

After watching a sickening movie “Eden Lake”, 4 of us (me, favian, chern ta, whay shaun) went into C-Jade Express for our dinner. Whay shaun told us C-Jade express in SG has a incredibly nice porridge, which the taste and smells has already engraved in his memory since then..

 DSC02419

Initially, we headed over to Garden’s C-Jade (their flagship restaurant) to try, didn’t know that they only serve porridge as breakfast. The manager advised us to look for their “express” restaurant in MV Ground Floor. Promotion is going on now! If you order their value set, it costs you rm18.80 which including a choice of “Preserved Egg & Salted Egg Yolk Congee” , “Preserved Egg & Minced Meat Congee” or “Chicken Congee” served in claypot and G-Cheong-Fun with a dessert; or ala-cart for rm11.80.

Chern Ta!! Do you still remember this noodles you ordered?? I was shocked by its portion and lagi shock by the price!!! The portion is very small!!! i think chern ta would even need 2 or 3 sets to be full with hunger satisfied!

P/S: Smiling doesn’t mean i am happy or satisfied ya~ Jus for the sake of smiling..

This restaurant is still yet to be rated because i dint dine in there that day, we, together went over to Manhattan Fish Market for Fish chips after C-Jade.. and… Chern ta had his second round there!!!

Where to, Nottingham at night?

I just realised, this is a 1st alcohol post in Onlyfoodie!
As most of you all know, at night in UK, there’s not much places to go – except for a pub, bar or club. That’s where most of everyone’s hangout and chilling place is. Either that, or at home.
After coming back from Manchester, we went to Pitchers and Piano to chill.
This is the people who went to P&P

At first… we had…
DSC00201

Us girls had vodka + orange juice, and the guys had other drinks.

DSC00221
After that, we had another shot.
It’s called Jaeger Bomb.
It’s 1 shot of what’s something like whiskey, and with Red Bull. Once you drop whiskey shot in the big glass with Red Bull, you’d have to drink it all fast in 1 go.

Not long after the Jaeger Bomb…

A shot of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey shot!
Mamma mia!!! I went back hugging the toilet bowl for quite awhile. Detoxify myself. Haha. My body just rejects anything after the vodka + orange. Seriously, I mean, I can drink, but NOT that fast and that soon. Like 1 shot after another – KO. Lol and my friend, Yit Ling, was the first to k-o. But it was alright after that! NO more alcohol for at least 1 month! (haha, I just had a bottle of Smirnoff vodka the other day in the campus bar)

This is after the 3rd time clearing the table. WTH. So many glasses!
Yes, Pitchers & Piano is a somewhat nice place to chill, quite a classy place, and no, it’s not a club. It’s an ex-church turned into a pub. Haha how ironic eh? Friends… next time when you’re in Nottingham and if I’m around, you can always give me a beep if you want to go there!

Hock Seng Guan @ Jalan Sultan

DSC02408

Ba Gua!!! 肉干(rou gan) !!! Yok Gon !!! or Barbeque Pork in english is one of the Chinese favourite especially during cny season and most of us would normally buy it as a gift for their relatives. ( but economic hardtime is concerned, people might consume less??)

DSC02415

Hmm, what so special about this Hock Seng Guan (HSG) barbeque pork? For my opinion, i think they are famous of their dried slice pork. SLICE, not minced and compressed it into one piece. So, people either would be enjoying their “hard time” in chewing it or hate this part like here!! haha

Dim Sum, anyone?

As exams were just over at the end of January, my friends and I (a bunch of 16 people) went to Manchester for a day trip. Our main purpose – to eat. Haha. Ask my friends why they chose of all places Manchester.

DSC00162
This is where we had our lunch. Pacific restaurant at Chinatown in Manchester.

We ordered lots of dim sums. The 16 of us were divided to 2 tables.

Here’s what we had :

We ordered two Yee sang kai chok (century egg congee)

Chee cheong fun.
1 is the prawn chee cheong fun, and another is yao zha guai wrapped with chee cheong fun

We had about 3 rounds of har kao

Then, we had this sticky rice.

At the end of our meal, the bill summed up to GBP64, and each of us have to pay only GBP8 for a hearty dim sum lunch!

That’s quite cheap. (much more cheaper than in Nottingham). However, it can’t really be compared to the dim sums we get in Hong Kong and in Malaysia. But what to do when one’s here? Substitute is good enough!

By the way, this restaurant, Pacific in Chinatown has won several awards and all.

My ratings for the food : 3.5/5

delicious @ One Utama

DSC02389

Last Wednesday, after attending Business Plan Writing workshop organised by HSBC YEA Awards, me Jon and Ash went over One Utama for lunch. HSBC did offer lunch at Menara Star , we refused to eat and we jus ate “some” snacks from there before came to One U! That was the first time i went to delicious; as far as i know, there is a delicious near Bukit Bintang area which has a magnificent layout.

Since that was my first time in delicious, Jon and Ash would be the person to order from the menu. I would have nothing to worry about because of Jon’s philosophy : “Delicious Food at a bargained price!”

Ipoh Kuay Teow @ Jalan Tong Shin

Last Monday (2nd February) 3am, our families were discussing what to eat for our breakfast in granma house. In between our discussion, my uncle suggested us to go for noodles, coz it has been 1 week we eating rice! Well, my mom and all agreed to have Ipoh Noodles at Jalan Alor area. My dad was uncertain whether the place mentioned by my uncle was the same place we had it few years back. We all went home at 4.30am, and got up at 11am with a super sleepy mood! ><

My cousin lead us to the shop, Ahem, it was the same kopitiam anyway! lols…
